Stand-alone mode
The main advantages of using UNISTAT in stand-alone mode:
- it does not have the data size restrictions of Excel,
- it provides efficient data handling procedures like aggregate, recode, stack, unstack,
- it has an easy-to-use formula editor,
- and it has its own macro record/playback and logging facilities.
Spreadsheet
UNISTAT comes complete with a fully-featured Excel-like spreadsheet (Data Processor) specialised for statistical data handling.
Formula Editor
Columns can be defined as functions of other columns using multi-function / multi-nested formulae, conditional functions and Boolean operators. The Formula Editor dialog helps constructing complex transformations with ease.
Data Types: Numeric, short and long strings, date and time data can be entered, edited and transformed with full support for missing values.
Data Import and Export
In addition to copy / paste between UNISTAT and other Windows applications, files can be opened, merged or saved in Excel, Access, CSV and a wide range of text file formats (fixed and free format by column and by row, DIF, Sylk, SDF, etc).
ODBC and SQL
It is possible to open any database for which drivers are installed in the Windows system. It is also possible to execute SQL statements to extract subsets from large databases.
Security
It is possible to password-protect selected UNISTAT internal files and create log files enabling audit trails.
Intermediary Output
In any UNISTAT procedure where a table is part of the output, there is the option to send it to the spreadsheet in full precision for further analysis.
